Sir Hamilton Harty has been called "the Irish Toscanini" because of his gifts as a conductor. His musical training was from his father as he grew up in the village of Hillsborough outside of Belfast, Ireland. A fine pianist, he was the accompanist for many great artists including Fritz Kreisler and Josef Szigeti. For many years he was the conductor of the Halle Orchestra as well as the London Symphony. In addition to his colorful Irish art-songs, he composed several large orchestral works and concertos for violin and piano.

Jane Harty is the grand-niece of Sir Hamilton Harty. Known for the depth of her musical insight, she is an active and diverse recitalist of solo and chamber music. She holds a D.M.A. degree from the University of Southern California and attended L'Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. Ms. Harty is currently on the faculty of Pacific Lutheran University and is the Music Director of the ArtsWest Concert Series in Seattle, Washington.

Captivating soprano Janeanne Houston excites audiences wherever she sings. She is a versatile artist who excels in a variety of repertoire from Mozart to Verdi, Handel to Stravinsky. She has sung with major orchestras in the Pacific Northwest, including Seattle Symphony, Oregon Symphony, Northwest Chamber Orchestra, and Northwest Symphonietta. Ms. Houston is a member of the voice faculty at Pacific Lutheran University.

Stuart Lutzenhiser is a strong advocate for music of the twentieth century and has done many premiers including Corigliano's "Of Rage and Remembrance." He was educated at Western Washington University and Indiana University. He has sung with Vancouver Opera, Western Concert Opera, and Tacoma Opera as well as the Symphonies of Milwaukee, Yakima, and Maracaibo, Venezuela. Other recordings include works of Posada and Rachmaninov.

This recording was made possible by the generous support of William and Virginia Harty.
